Do you ever get so mad that you just want to give up?
Does a thought morph inside your brain and turn into a feeling so much more intense than it should be?
Do you let God handle it or do you forget that you need him every single day and every moment of your day?
When talking about that feeling seems absolutely ridiculous because it means so much more to you than to anyone else, do you run and hide or confront it without trying to yell and scream in frustration and pain?
In the midst of it all do you let that self pity consume you or do you fall to Jesus?
Do you know that you can say to him, 'here you go, this trouble is yours, I give it all to you.'?
Why does our sin nature wire us so that our first thoughts are not always that?
When the path is narrow and dangerously winding how come you forget that not so long ago it was a perfect country road and you had somehow wished it to have more than just a straight away?
Does letting go and forgiving make it right if only you deal with it?
How come sharing that burden is more of a burden itself?
The answer is always Jesus. ALWAYS. He is the Way, the Truth and the Light.

Real. Really.
I choose to be real. To eat real.
We don't have cheese whiz or cheese slices in our house. It is processed and fake.
We don't have Kraft Dinner or Hamburger Helper in our pantry either. I make those from scratch with real ingredients.
The small bag of white flour will last six months in my pantry, where as the biggest bag of whole wheat flour disappears in one month.
I support local farmers and meat producers by shopping locally when I can at farmers markets, local butchers or from the farm share we have. I can/freeze any extras we have. [Hoping next year to have my own garden!]
I don't buy packaged taco seasoning or gravies. It's all from scratch. Sometimes things like that can be time consuming but when you are smart about it, the rewards more than pay for themselves. My taco seasoning recipe is a large batch that is easily stored in the cupboard. I know what's in it and it takes all of five minutes to make with ingredients that are already in my spice cupboard. Easy peasy!

kleenex, school and gifts
Miscellany mishmash...
Kleenex is running out
- cold season is back in full force with the start of back to school. 5 out of 6 family members have sniffles and/or coughs, and that one who doesn't [the husband] is the one who usually gets it!
Two in school
- my big boy2 is at his first day of preschool. He walked in and didn't look back! He was so excited. And I was glad he has this time too. He LOVES Sunday School, and is somewhat jealous that boy1 gets to go to school all the time.
Really just one in school
- boy1 is home today from school due to the school's program that records progress/skills and take half the students one day, the other half the next. He went on Friday and today is his day off. He is BORED out of his mind and pretty lost without his brother. He even admitted doesn't know what to do with himself and prefers to play with others. Gotta learn boy! boy3 is doing fine playing on his own and actually prefers it! Mamma's gonna blog & have her hot[ish] coffee, then we will do something fun :)
For the mammas
- I've been mentioning something special on Facebook exclusively to Tiny TreeHugger with my pal Kristen of jolie Hand-made Jewellery, and we'll be ready to launch it THIS WEEK! I really can't wait. It's something that even the husband's can get for the mamma's! A PERFECT gift for Christmas... **happy sigh**
So despite the sickness, sibling rivalries [& grey hair that may or may not be associated & hiding under the hairdresser's fab dye job], and busy-ness of having a family of six and a business [phew!] I remind myself of the gifts I have been blessed with. Little and large... [#275-292]
... gramma to come and spend time with her grandboys
... an evening walk down the street
... delivering fresh zucchini muffins on said walk [hoping they were good!]
... neighbourhood kids for my kids to play with
... preschool program in the school
... baby swing to rock the baby
... local customers who pickup orders - meeting new people in town!
... sweet emails that say "have i mentioned recently that you rock!"
... other random emails just asking "how are you?"
... lazy weekends
... no screen challenges [this doesn't start/count until monday's blog post is done!! ;) ]
... galaxy commercial free music stations - [ch 913&938 aka Hot Country & The Light]
... naps. sweet sweet refreshing naps.
... filling my freezer up with ice cream pails full zucchini muffins and granola bars
... pickling beets and pickles with mom
... adding items to the 'to sell' pile
... upcoming coffee/games dates with friends [hoping to feel better by then too so they won't be cancelled!]
... all of the above and so much more
What are you thankful for today?

you are on the highway, stuck behind a truck that's behind a combine, that's behind a combine...

thankful&grateful
with a grateful heart...
blessings come with each day & rising of the sun.
one must acknowledge them to know that even though there are negativity & darkness & uncertainty... there is also positivity & light & a gift[s] with each day that we re given...
be thankful & grateful for all you are given.
i am thankful&grateful for -
four healthy sons.
a home to raise them in.
friends to confide in.
friends to call up for a favor when needed.
friends who can call me for the same.
computer and internet to keep connected.
a biz to keep me busy when life doesn't seem busy enough.
a loyal husband who can go to his job of 20+ years each day & work & feel rewarded by all that he does...
great praise & worship to listen to on the radio or tv.
food in my fridge.
working van to take boy1 to the bus stop & school.
a helpful boy1 that empties the bottom rack of the dishwasher.
helpful boy2&3 who take turns putting cutlery from the dishwasher away.
smiley babyK last night, even though he was supposed to be sleeping at 9, and 10, and 11...
dirty fingernails meaning hard at work [or play]
baby sling to pull out while making lunch...
which means a few more zzzzzzs for the wee one!
fresh cool autumn air
& warm sweaters
creative minds that make masterpieces with something as simple as a piece of paper and a few markers...
[#255 - #274 of 1000gifts and more here.]
more random musings -
today i go see the dentist. need to get a filling and broken tooth fixed. this will be the first time in years i have seen one [besides the checkup for the tooth before babyK came...] word to the wise - when a dentist sends a request to the insurance company for work to be done. only request the best & most expensive option first, not both options. because OF COURSE they are going to go with the cheaper option.
i started writing this post around 9am. it is now 245pm. that's just how my day works ;)
i feel like napping but need to get ready for said trip to the city in less than an hour. maybe a frapp will be a reward for not procrastinating and napping?!?
which means.... gotta go! now tell me one thing you are thankful&grateful for and one random musing...

remember, you are blessed
some inspiration for the heart today...
be grateful... for EVERY day.
...
...
...
remembering those that lost their lives on this day ten years ago... and for all those affected by the events that occurred.
every day is so precious. and no matter how hard I may think my life is, you and I are so blessed by all we are given. don't forget that.
hug your loved ones today. call that someone that you haven't talked to in a while. send a sweet email to the friend who may need it. let that one person know that you are here for them.

Indian Summer
Wow. It's September 9th and 31 degrees. Sun warming up everything it touches and the air conditioning turned on in the house for some cool relief. Hot air balloons floating in the early morning sky. We watch them on the skyline while we wait for boy1's bus.
He is getting braver. Last year the bus was available to him. We carpooled instead. This year the same options aren't available so we thought we would try out the bus. Well, day one he didn't want to. He thought he wouldn't get ready in time for the bus home. Thursday (day two) morning came and he requested to go on the bus for the morning only. Low and behold, he LOVED it. Go figure.
So today he went to and from school on the bus. Silly thing is that the busstop is 1km away. The school is 1.5kms away. So the two of the three times we went we drove. Today was super nice so we turned the bike trailer into a stroller and walked there! I thought babyK was going to wake up when I disturbed him from his nap to put him in the trailer but he fell back asleep. Love this age & adaptability :)

the climb
time goes by,
things change.
people change.
priorities change.
we move on,
we move forward,
& then backward...
then forward again.
sometimes sideways.
today i am moving forward.
i choose to live.
i choose to breath in the air that surrounds me.
i choose to complete what is set out in front of me,
even if the mountain is 10 miles high.
it WILL be climbed.
well, in this case
the mountain [of laundry]
will be folded...
